The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) Family Birthing Center (FBC) welcomed the first baby of 2018 a day after the start of the New Year.
Lillian Belle Seamon, who shares a middle name with her paternal grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, weighed in at 6-pounds, 9-ounces and was 20 ¼ -inches in length. She was delivered by Corey Fazio, D.O., at 5:14 p.m. on Jan. 2. She is the daughter of Lindsey Ransom & Dustin Seamon, Clyde.
“I started having early contractions on Dec. 31, but they didn’t get intense until the morning of Jan. 2. I originally had a doctor’s appointment scheduled for 4:00 p.m. that afternoon, however I went to the office early since I had been contracting,” said Lindsey. "Once I got to the office, they sent me straight over to the hospital.”
The couple knew prior to the birth they were going to have a baby girl, the first child for both.
Added Lindsey, “If I hadn’t had her by Jan. 2, the plan was to induce the morning of Jan. 3. However, I guess she was in a hurry to meet us because she made her appearance before we had to consider induction.”
Finalized Dustin, “When Lindsey first started to have contractions on the Dec. 31, we thought there might be a chance she would have a New Year’s baby, but then when Lillian didn’t arrive until Jan. 2, we didn’t think about her being the hospital’s first baby of the year. We were wrong!”
Lillian and her parents received many gifts from local and area businesses for being the first baby of 2018, including $200 from the hospital, and gifts from the hospital Gift Shop.
Lillian also received various gifts from local merchants, including Russell’s Flowers, Garden Center & Gifts, Hogue’s IGA, Bassett’s Market, ACE Hardware, Dendinger’s, First National Bank, and Bone Boys BBQ & Catering.
Maternal grandparents are Carolyn Pearson, Atlanta, Georgia, and Richard Ransom, Republic. Paternal grandparents are Luke & Donna Seamon, Marblehead.
