The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced the appointment of David A. Cook as chief financial officer and vice president of finance. Cook began his official duties on Monday, Sept. 18.
“We are pleased to welcome Dave Cook to The Bellevue Hospital family,” said Timothy A. Buit, president and chief executive officer of TBH. “Dave brings with him over 40 years of expertise in healthcare to our organization. We look forward to working with him to advance our strategic plan of continuing to provide quality care, close to home for the communities we serve.”
Cook has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in accounting and economics. Most recently, he served as finance manager for Better Health Partnership, a non-profit regional health improvement collaborative in Cleveland. His key responsibilities included financial reporting for both internal and external members, providing guidance on financial aspects related to Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care organizations and ensuring the growth of new business lines.
His previous experience in the healthcare field also includes serving as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for University Hospitals – Elyria Medical Center, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Parma Community General Hospital and vice president of finance for community hospitals at University Hospitals.
“The opportunity to join the team at The Bellevue Hospital is ideal because my passion is for the independent community hospital setting,” said Cook. “I’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness I’ve received from hospital staff I’ve met and look forward to opportunities to get more involved in the Bellevue community.”
Cook is a native of Cleveland, but currently resides in Strongsville with his wife Tammy. He is a parent of three children and two stepchildren, all adults. Cook enjoys playing golf, hiking national parks, traveling to NASCAR races with his family and watching hockey.
